Meet L.C. Hayden — Award-winning mystery and suspense writer
This creative, kind, funny, and generous woman left her mark on her fans, students, and other authors–and is greatly missed. Not only was she a talented writer, but she generously encouraged other writers in the craft. I’ll forever be thankful that she took me under her wing as my writing teacher and then continued to mentor me long after. I met her when I took my first course from her through Savvy Authors about how to write a mystery, followed by a later course about writing suspense. She encouraged me through the actual writing, editing, and publishing stages of Gunnysack Hell and gave me advice post-publishing about the ins-and-outs of being a featured book group author (which I’ve now done ten times) with lots of helpful tips to help me along the way. She also wrote an endorsement that appears on the back cover of Gunnysack Hell and here on my website. And she promoted my writing with her readers on her author FaceBook page.
I had the honor of interviewing Elsie for two of my “Get the Scoop” blogs upon the release of new books in her mystery/thriller series (When Danger Follows, a Harry Bronson Book, and That Last Ghost Dance, an Aimee Brent Book). For a close-up peek with lots of background and insights straight from the late, great L.C. Hayden herself, read (or re-read!) those two interview blogs as they were presented in their original postings:
Elsie–Thanks for your inspiration, which lives on in your readers and also in the many writers you so selflessly assisted (that includes me, many times over!). Until we meet again on the other side where you’ll be adding another book to your Miracles and Angels series … xox Nancy
